BMC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The base upper age limit differs by post; existing BMC employees are exempt from the upper age limit itself, but subject to an overall maximum of 58 years in all cases.

Age relaxation in the upper age limit, applicable to candidates who are original domicile of Gujarat and belong to reserved categories (including EWS) and to women/disabled candidates, is common across all three posts:

  • General category women: 5 years
  • Reserved category men: 5 years
  • Reserved category women: 10 years
  • General category disabled men: 5 years
  • General category disabled women: 10 years
  • Reserved category disabled men: 10 years
  • Reserved category disabled women: 15 years

Ex-servicemen are entitled to age relaxation as per applicable Government rules. In all cases, the age including all applicable relaxations must not exceed 45 years on the closing date of application.

Additionally, 10% of posts in each category are reserved for Ex-servicemen, and 4% for candidates with physical disabilities (Persons with Disabilities), as per the respective notifications. Within the Sanitary Sub Inspector post, 1 of the 4 posts is earmarked for PwBD (Low Vision); within the MPHW post, 3 of the 75 posts are earmarked for PwBD (across Low Vision; Deaf/Hard of Hearing; and locomotor/other specified disabilities). The Commissioner, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation, reserves the unrestricted right to change the number of vacancies shown above.

BMC Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions

  • A candidate must submit a separate application, with the separate applicable fee, for each advertisement/post applied to
  • Candidates must hold the qualification shown in the notification as on the last date of application; provisional/pending qualifications are not accepted, and equivalent-qualification claims must be supported with the relevant competent authority's order
  • At the time of document verification, candidates must produce original mark sheets (all years/semesters) and self-attested copies from the recognised university/institution, as well as experience certificates; certificates issued by a College Principal are not considered valid
  • Candidates must state marks strictly as a percentage in the application form; applications showing CPI/CGPA/SGPA/OGPA/Grade instead of percentage will not be considered
  • Reserved-category candidates may apply against unreserved posts, but selection criteria for the unreserved category will then apply to them
  • Candidates in regular Government/semi-Government/Corporation service may apply directly online but must inform their department/office within 7 days of applying; if the employer refuses permission more than 30 days after the closing date, the candidature will be rejected
  • Candidates who have ever been debarred, or compulsorily retired/dismissed/removed from Government or Government-affiliated service, must disclose this in the application; concealment or an ongoing debarment period will lead to rejection or cancellation of appointment
  • A "No Objection Certificate" from the competent authority is required for candidates already in Government/semi-Government service
  • Ex-servicemen candidates must themselves be the ex-serviceman and must submit the prescribed service-period certificate from the District Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Office when demanded; false claims will result in cancellation of selection/appointment
  • Physically disabled candidates must have a disability of 40% or more but not more than 75% to be eligible for PwBD benefit, and must submit a certificate from a Government hospital Superintendent/Civil Surgeon/Medical Board in the prescribed format
  • Only Indian citizens, or citizens/subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, or persons of Indian origin who have migrated with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to a  Government eligibility certificate), are eligible to apply
  • Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies shown in the notification
