Order of Priority for Selection
- Graduates of medical colleges established or run by the Government of India or State Government (or a Government-run and predominantly Government-funded Society)
- Graduates of other medical colleges in India
- Graduates of medical colleges outside India
Candidates in a lower priority category are considered only after all applicants in the higher category have been considered.
Age Limit
The candidate's age must be below 37 years as on the date specified in the notification.
Selection Process
Selection is made purely on merit based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 1st Professional, 2nd Professional and Final Professional MBBS university examinations. Merit is applied within the order-of-priority framework mentioned above. There is no written examination.
The Selection Committee functions at the district level and consists of:
- Civil Surgeon of the District (Chairman)
- Assistant Civil Surgeon
- Representative of the Deputy Commissioner
- District Social Justice Empowerment Officer
Applications for all districts are invited by the Director Health Services through a single common advertisement.
Salary and Security Deposit
- Remuneration: Rs. 70,000 per month
- Security deposit: Rs. 20,000 must be deposited before joining duty
The security amount is forfeited and no House Job completion certificate is issued if the candidate leaves before completing the full tenure or is discharged for unsatisfactory conduct.
